Spotlighting page groupings in navigation view



Spotlighting a navigation view is a versatile alternative to centering it. Spotlighting lets you to focus on specific pages without removing other pages from the view.

You can spotlight several types of page groupings:

  • Family spotlights a selected page, its parent page, and its children.
  • Incoming spotlights any page containing the source of a hyperlink to the selected page.
  • Outgoing spotlights any page containing the destination of a hyperlink from the selected page.
  • Pending spotlights all pending links in the site.
  • Collection spotlights all pages in the site in a selected collection of pages. For information, see Spotlighting collections.

  • Spotlighting pending links uses arrows to provide especially detailed information.

    To spotlight groups of pages in a navigation view:

    1 Expand the navigation view as necessary to show the pages you want to spotlight.

    2 Do one of the following:

  • Select a page and choose Spotlight Family, Spotlight Incoming, or Spotlight Outgoing from the Navigation tab menu.
  • Choose Spotlight Pending from the Navigation tab menu.

  • 3 Do either of the following as necessary:

  • Select another file to move the spotlight.
  • Choose another spotlight command to change the type of spotlight.

  • Note: You can also spotlight with the View Controller.
